OpenSun's engine's source has been released by Equiredox!
But you must realise that this is a very early version, not nearly completed, and not functional. Also, this is the engine behind OpenSun, not the game itself.
That said, it comes in 3 parts. The 'bogus' engine (Beginners oriented graphics utility script), Caustic Fusion (Basically GameSpy for OpenSun), and the Random Terrain Generator, or RTG. All three have been avilable in the OpenSun forums for several days now, but you can now also get them in the downloads section here. Also, all three contain the source code and binary, so if you don't want to compile them its already done for you.☻

We have quite a few nice updates today.
First of all, we have new screenshots of the OpenSun engine running, using heightmaps for terrain generation, in the Screenshots section. We also have added to the downloads section, a sample of a vector engine to have 2D and 3D living in harmony. Also added to the downloads section is Terragen 0.12 with an executable (Which requires .NET 1.1) that uses the terrain generation algorithms; it runs standard tests, outputing height maps to a specific path.☻

Unfortunately, D, our 2D artist had to leave due to personal reasons. He may once in a while do something or other for OpenSun, but unfortunately he is no longer an active team member. He did do a lot of work on the sidebar for OpenSun, and I commend him for it. You can check out the sidebar in the Screenshots section.

I sent Equiredox an email recently regarding lack of motivation I have observed in regards to OpenSun, and his apparent disappearance.
He replied with very encouraging news, and here is part of his email that concerns the future of OpenSun, enginewise:

There was a typo in the website that formerly prevented emails regarding affiliation from reaching us. The problem has been corrected, and if you sent us an email in the last month we advise you to resend it.

In other news, unfortunately there isn't much news right now, and the most recent updates can, as always, be found in our forum. We have recently had some difficulties with people practically demanding features, and unfortunately we are unable to do anything about them at the moment. As far as I know and am concerned, what is written in the Technology section is final, and not up to question, as it would require a very large reconsideration of our priorities and workload.☻

I've added the other affiliate now as well as two more! You should go check out CNC Depot CNC Guild, and C&C Nuked! Also, I fixed the link to the Particle Design. I'm not sure how developments have been going the last week or so, but we should see some definate progress soon.☻

I'm proud to say that OpenSun's affiliates are quickly increasing, with the newest additions being YUCNC and another who I will be adding as soon as I can get the button. The first tasks have been assigned in the forum, so lets get on 'em! Check out the Jobs & Tasks subforum for the current work. The interface is being worked on by D, TerroR is making a main menu 3D loop animation, Smilen is making a theme song to be played on the main menu, the scripting language is being worked on by DCoder, and Equiredox is programming a UI script parser and menu system. I'm working on something secret, that will be announced soon.☻
